If 20,000 Gun Control Laws Don't Work, Will One More?

 I have made this argument many times on this blog, and other better writers than I am have made the same argument.  Guns don't kill people.  Guns are merely tools to be used by people.  Rather, it is people who kill other people.  While the vegan crowd likes to think that we are intended to be peaceful plant eaters like the apes, the truth is we are a predator species.  But we are also a social species, which means we must learn to tame our predatory natures.  But some people don't, preferring to take from others what they don't want to earn for themselves.  So, why do some keep demanding more gun control laws, when the 20,000 laws on the books already don't seem to work as advertised?  That is the point today in an article by Jenn Jacques at Bearing Arms entitled The Gun Control Truth American Politicians and Media Largely Ignore.

But the truth about gun control won’t be heard from a podium at a debate or read on the bumper of a Prius. The truth can only be found through the lens of common sense.

Perhaps that’s why there are so many people today who can’t see it.

Alan Korwin spoke passionately on TownHall about the subject, saying:

This is the great flaw with law. It doesn’t work. It gives you legal options after the action, and it deters good people, sometimes, but it doesn’t do much other good. Gun control deters no one intent on evil acts. Only some of us understand this unfortunately. If laws against armed bank robbery worked, we’d have no armed bank robbers, right?

Laws’ failures are legendary, monumental, self evident, and yet missed. If laws against committing jihadi atrocities worked, there would be no San Bernardino, no Brussels, no Paris, none of the names that are going to happen in the not-too-distant future. If only gun control worked.?

The constantly vilified supposedly evil gun lobby (the NRA) fervently wishes those laws worked. Every one of their five million members wishes gun-control laws—the 20,000 we hear are already on the books—worked as advertised. There isn’t any criminal act you can commit with a firearm that isn’t already illegal. If only those laws did something to stop crime! We’d be safer, and the left wouldn’t be out there, all alone you might have noticed, pressing for still more laws to do what those laws aren’t doing.?

The worst part—new gun laws being proposed don’t even confront crime. They don’t have to, because the crimes are already outlawed. But I repeat myself. The new laws make crimes out of things that aren’t crime—by banning legal activity Americans do every day. Look at gun-transfer laws, pitched as more background checks* for example, the current rallying cry of more-gun-law proponents.?

It’s already illegal for criminals to transfer guns, buy guns, have guns, giveaway guns, get guns, anything. More background checks will increasingly burden the innocent, but it won’t disarm or stop criminals who are already armed. Enhanced enforcement and arrests will have that desired effect, but these aren’t proposed.?

Armed criminals are armed now despite all the laws banning it already. You do understand that, don’t you? Such questions are mysteriously not posed to gun-control advocates by the media. Instead, reporters virtually cheerlead and campaign for new laws that will incrementally disarm or subarm the public.?

Gentle readers should go and read the whole article by Korwin, including the reference to Diplomatic Carry which is interesting in itself. Yes, the article is old, from 2016, but in truth the ideas are timeless. The making of a law has never prevented someone from breaking that law (which is why our laws have punishments attached.)  If gun control worked, we would live in the most peaceful time in man's existence on planet Earth. But you can see the results in the next article mentioned.

As proof of the thesis that Korwin and Jacques put forward, as if there needed to be any more proof, Jacques cites a Daily Caller article discussing the gun control efforts of El Salvador. The couhtry of El Salvador, in Central America, has an ironic name. "El Salvador" means "The Savior" but it doesn't sound like He is doing much to save the poor people of El Salvador.

There’s been no mention in coverage of El Salvador’s crime wave about gun control. Probably because the laws there, in some aspects, are a gun-grabber’s dream. In 1999, El Salvador passed tough gun control legislation. Among provisions of the law were the requirement to get a license that has to be renewed every three years, private citizens can only buy one gun every two years, firearms are registered, and there is no constitutional protection of the right to keep and bear arms. The legislation has not had the effects that those who support strict gun laws in the United States would like to advertise.

According to GunPolicy.org, 1,863 people were killed in firearms-related incidents of all types the year that the new gun law was passed. A decade later, despite the law, the death toll was 3,042, or an average of 25 people over a three-day period. Today, the murder rate now averages almost one person per hour.

So, we have Korwin giving us a dose of common sense, and then the Daily Caller illustrating that a country with the gun-grabbers wet dream of gun control has a crime problem even bigger than ours. Now, even Harvard University admits that there are other countries with fewer guns and restrictive gun control that nevertheless have more crime and murder that the United States. Of course, that study has been pulled. I wonder why?

We have an estimated 20,000 laws on the books. Let that sink in. Yet somehow, it is not enough to disarm those who would commit crimes including murder. Even so, the solution is to propose more laws. Maybe we should try something else? Einstien's definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Are our gun grabbers insane?

Unwoke: How the Left Took Over the America

 Ted Cruz has another article advertising his new book Unwoke: how To Defeat Cultural Marxism in America at The Federalist today. This time, Cruz describes how the thoughts of Antonio Gramsci, and Italian Marxist revolutionary, writing in the late 1920s and 1930s, came to be the dominate the methodology of the New Left.  Along the way, Gramsci's ideas had to be refined by Rudi Dutschke and Herbert Marcuse to become an actionable "long march through the institutions."

Cruz writes that Gramisci's had tried to overthrow the Italian government and failed.  The Italians were resistant to his messages.  Nonetheless, he didn't give up:

But Gramsci didn’t blame himself or his fellow communists for their constant failure. He certainly didn’t blame the bad ideas of Karl Marx.

Instead, like so many Marxists before and after him, he blamed society. In his view Italy, and other societies in the West, were especially resistant to Marxism because they were made up of institutions that were not connected to the government: universities, schools, churches, and newspapers, as well as publishing houses and other means of distributing popular culture. This made implementing Marxism, which relied on the central power of the government to control everything, extremely difficult.

According to Gramsci, the only way to truly change society was not by violent revolution, but by infiltrating the institutions that make Western society unique. If Marxists could get inside the universities, for instance, where knowledge is effectively “made,” or get jobs at publishing houses, which were the main avenues through which ideas were distributed at the time, they might be able to change the ways people thought in subtle ways, rather than having to resort to the kind of outward revolution that Karl Marx had planned on.

Cruz points out that Gransci's ideas had to percolate through the so-called Marxist "intellectual" circles for a number of years

At some point in the 1960s, they reached the United States, and by the end of the decade the New Left in America was already beginning to burn out. The primary means of transmission was a professor named Herbert Marcuse, who had done some organizing with Dutschke before coming to the United States and who’d grown to admire Dutschke’s plan for the “long march through the institutions.” In a letter to Dutschke written in 1971, Marcuse said that the long march would be “the only effective way” to bring about a true left-wing revolution in the United States.

Marcuse described the strategy in detail in a book published the next year. He described how leftists would now work “against the established institutions while working within them, but not simply by ‘boring from within,’ rather by ‘doing the job,’ learning (how to program and read computers, how to teach at all levels of education, how to use the mass media, how to organize production, how to recognize and eschew planned obsolescence, how to design, et cetera), and at the same time preserving one’s own consciousness in working with others.”

Which brings us to today, where the Left is in effective control of all the major institutions and a lot of the not so major ones as well. I have noted that most of the Christian denominations have buckled to some degree or another of the Leftist ideologies, even though these go against the Bible. What amazes me is that so many apparently intelligent people can look at the record of absolute failure of Marxist ideas when put into practice, and still dedicate their lives to it. Don't they know the history of murder and death? Don't they know the history of misery, of bread lines, of the denial of people's individuality? Surely, they do, but they either agree with it, or discount it. Which prompts the question: What has sustained the Marxist idea for going on 200 years?

The Church has been sustained through 2000 years by the Holy Spirit working through the men and women who constitute the true saints. The Apostles were witnesses to the death and resurrection of our Lord. Their testimony, and the constant work of the Holy Spirit continues to build and sustain the Church despite the missteps of fallen mankind. So, what has sustained the Marxist movement despite the history of failure to deliver anything like a paradise on earth. The recent attack on Israel and the outpouring of antisemitism in Europe and the United States might give us a clue.  It is not like Marxism whether Communist, Fascist, or Socialist has not been tried, all have been tried and failed.  

I believe that the Marxist movement has been sustained through all these years by the guiding intelligence of Satan himself.

The Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared

 This morning, I read an essay by J. B. Shurk that recommends gentle readers should Keep Your Heads On a Swivel. It is a timely reminder of things you are no doubt already doing. Having a "go bag" for instance is pretty standard. Having a "get home bag" kicks it up a notch, but the thing is, we can no longer trust the government to even try to keep us safe. Indeed, it looks as if the government may be one of the ones hoping we won't make it?  In any case, we are always our own first responders to any situation.

This is an essay about surviving. We should be living our lives today with an expectation that something bad will soon happen. That feeling should not dominate our existence or preclude us from pursuing rich and joyful lives, but it should keep us mentally vigilant and physically prepared before disaster strikes. In this Obama-Biden America of open borders, out-of-control violent crime, economic fragility, and international provocations, it is only a matter of time before conflicts abroad become conflicts at home. It is vitally important to keep your head on a swivel.

Unfortunately, Americans are at a disadvantage today because they have been conditioned to depend entirely upon government institutions for protection. A culture that values strength and self-reliance produces citizens who are capable of defending themselves when necessary. A culture that embraces victimhood, views masculinity as “toxic,” finds language “triggering,” and insists that only government agents should be armed with weapons is a culture ripe for swift defeat.

Furthermore, too many official U.S. government policies are intentionally geared toward harming Americans. No sane nation interested in the safety of its citizens would open its borders to tens of millions of illegal aliens, refuse to prosecute violent criminals, or secretly resettle anti-American, military-aged “refugees” into unsuspecting American communities. No sane nation wastes its resources harassing patriotic citizens as “domestic enemies,” while turning a blind eye to the damage caused by Antifa and BLM riots and the very real threats from Islamic terrorism.

FBI Director Wray admitted just the other day that his agency is not tracking “currently operating” foreign terror cells in the United States, that “the gaps in our intelligence are real, and that’s something we have concerns about.” At this point, nobody is denying that foreign terrorists are using America’s illegal immigration crisis to slip into the country. During Biden’s time in office, border patrol officers have “encountered” nearly seven million immigrants, while over two million “known gotaways” evaded initial detection. Tens of thousands of Middle Easterners have successfully entered the country illegally. In 2023 alone, nearly one thousand people on the FBI’s terrorist watchlist have been apprehended, but nobody knows the true scope of terrorist “gotaways.”

Why would the U.S. government see Americans as expendable? The most straightforward answer is that it does not serve the American people but is instead interested exclusively in expanding its own powers. What 9/11 confirmed for the Intelligence Community is that even its worst failures can be used to institute unconstitutional laws, such as the Patriot Act, that serve to broaden government authority. In the subsequent two decades, the federal government has created a complex surveillance system that enables it to spy on every citizen of the United States. Not only has freedom been foolishly traded for the promise of security, but also that promise proved to be a lie.

Shurk's suggestions don't involve the sterotypical notion of preppers as living in an underground bunker off the grid and stockpiling food and water against a "The End Of The World As We Know It" or TEOTWKI. Most people can't do so, and frankly, does one want to give up going to church, having social interaction with others and abandoning your neighbors for the sake of survival? No one makes it out of here alive, and taking a moral stand on God's side is after all what He wants.  We all can't homeschool our children, and who knows how long we may have to survive anyway? But what Shurk suggests are pretty reasonable for anyone, whether facing terrorist threats or merely the disasters that can happen to anyone at any time.

Situational awareness has never been more important. Be leery of large public gatherings, especially those in gun-free zones. Approach every new setting with caution. Immediately do two things: (1) locate every available exit, and (2) if you are not already in possession of a weapon, identify what you could use in a pinch. A sturdy glass jar or bottle is just as deadly as a brick. If you can legally carry a firearm, do so. If you are comfortable with a knife, carry one that locks into place. If you are uncomfortable with both firearms and knives, wear a thick belt with a weighty buckle. Not only does a belt make an ideal tourniquet, but also it can be used as both a whip to keep an attacker at bay or as something to wind around your wrist and forearm for protection.

This blog started out as a gun blog. I carry a gun most of the time when I am out. But I also carry a heavy cane that serves as a stick for when I need extra balance.  It is a walking stick, but easily could be carried through an airport.  A shillelagh is a perfect example of being both a practical walking stick and a weapon. Besides being something to hold up your pants, a substantial belt can be a torniquet as well as forming a buckler around your wrist or serve as a weapon. Indeed, anything can be a weapon in the right hands and used the right way.

Spend time discussing various scenarios with your family. Should communication networks go down, know exactly where each member will go during an emergency. Should home base no longer be a safe option, have a backup location where everyone knows to go. Plan ahead, so that you are not scrambling during chaos.

I was in Washington, DC during the attacks on September 11, 2001. My wife worked over at HUD while I worked at the Navy Yard. When the attacks went happened one of the results was that communications between us were severed for most of the day. Cell towers were overloaded, and official telephone lines were used strictly for official traffic. She had no way to reach me to find out what was happening, if the Yard had been hit, if I was alright. It would have been a good idea to have a way to communicate. Note that many radio amateurs practice providing emergency communications. Get to know them and think about getting a technician license to do it yourself.

Another item is food. I don't think you need food kits from one of the vendors you hear advertised on the radio. You can buy canned meats including corned beef, Spam, canned chicken, tuna and salmon and keep them in stock in your house. Should power go out, open a can and you can eat it as is. You can also buy canned vegetables and bottled water. Such rations are not "gourmet" but they will keep body and soul together, and they are nutritious. Coffee can be a trade item, so keep some on hand. BTW, I like fried Spam and eggs as a way to start the day. Speaking of eggs, if you are allowed to keep hens, not roosters, but hens, they can supply fresh eggs for you and your neighbors.

Shurk also writes about various bags and the kinds of things you should have in them. I have a tool bag I routinely carry to work. But I really need to add some things, and the site provides plenty to think about. One thing that Shurk mentions is to generally avoid places with a lot of random people, and if danger strikes and you are not immediately in it, run. Your responsibilities probably lie elsewhere, protecting your family.

Run from danger when possible. Barricade yourself behind closed doors if you must hide. If you have no other choice, fight for your life. Make an attacker pay dearly. Work with others to overwhelm any threat. Be decisive and fight dirty. Make yourself a risky target. Do not expect government help; you must be prepared to defend your own life.

You are your own first responder.

The Power of Speaking the Truth

 Speaking of speaking the truth, at Bearing Arms today, Tom Knighton has a piece entitled House Dems Get Offended Over Speaker's Pro-Gun Comments. The article perfectly exemplifies what I said about speaking the truth as picking up a rock to find a snake that slithers under another rock.  The Speaker noted that the murders of 18 people and injury of 13 others in Lewiston, ME. had nothing to do with guns, but with the human heart.  

“At the end of the day, the problem is the human heart. It’s not guns. It’s not the weapons,” Mr Johnson said after the violence and then advocated for the Second Amendment in the next breath.

Democrats slammed this perspective, calling it “factually wrong” and said it “paints a dark view of America and its people.” The lawmakers argued, “Gun violence in America is not inevitable, it is simply tolerated by Republican leadership,” and called for the passage of gun legislation as an actionable way to prevent these attacks.

As Knighton notes

First, they call that “troubling?” There’s nothing troubling about saying that guns aren’t the problem, the problem is that people want to kill others.

It’s what we in the real world like to call “the truth.”

Nor do his comments paint a “dark view of America and its people.” That’s better done by Democrats who support the idea that our nation and the majority of its people are irredeemably racist, sexist, homophobic, and guilty of every other significant brand of hate you care to name simply because of the way they were born.

Somehow, though, I don’t see these Democrats lashing out at that.

As I have already said, we will have to wait to see how Speaker Johnson translates his faith into policy, but so far I like someone who tells the truth. I have not seen a gun yet that takes it upon itself to kill anything. It is always a tool of someone with murder in his heart. It is the human condition.

Ted Cruz: Unwoke

 I have liked Senator Ted Cruz since I first heard about him almost 10 years ago.  Cruz is a true Constitutional scholar and conservative. Cruz showing up in Townhall however is not as a new commentator but rather to publicize his new book, Unwoke: How To Defeat Cultural Marxism in America. I have a confession to make, however. I have't read his new book because I already have a backlog of books I am slogging my way throough. But I have put it on my reading list. In any case, I was happy to see him in the "pages" of Towhall. In his article, entitled Excert From Unwoke: Marxism and China Cruz made a statement I can fully agree with. He stated he viscerally hated Communists. So do I. I vicerally hate Communism but for somewhat different reasons.

I need to explain that last statement. I don't know Ted Cruz personally, but I think his hatred of Communism grows out of the several facts of Marxist philosophy. The first is that they always and everywhere lie. The promises they make are lies. They don't intend to make the world better for the poor or downtrodden, but rather to use them to gain power. They fear exposure to the truth as vampires fear sunlight. One would think that if what they were doing was legitimate, they would be about it to the world. Instead, as I said, they lie. And of course, they cheat and steal. Communists don't produce new ideas, rather they steal them from those who do as the Communists stole nuclear secrests from the West. In the same way, Communist China steals American designs and production methods. And they kill in massive numbers. It is estimated that they killed 100 million of their own citizens in the 20th Century.

Of course, I viscerally hate Communists because I recognize that Communism like Islam, grows out of the ancient Serpent, the Devil.  Jesus said that he always a liar and murderer from the start. Now, I know that God both loves and hates the Devil.  But I am not God, so I can only do one thing at a time.  I chose to hate what God hates.  If Cruz is on the same page, good for him.

Since I arrived in the Senate over a decade ago, I have been warning about China—which I maintain poses the single greatest geopolitical threat facing the United States for the next century. My first year as a senator, I gave a speech urging that we can’t deal with China “by embracing arm-in-arm and singing kumbaya.” At the time, that was very much a minority view; all the Democrats and most of the Republicans disagreed. When they looked to China, they saw nothing but dollar signs.

And we very much need clear vision and a detailed, systemic strategy to defeat them. Our approach should be modeled after Reagan’s strategy that won the Cold War and defeated the Soviet Union.

It should start by shining a light of truth on the communists. Reagan astonished the intellectual elites when he referred to the Soviet Union as an “evil empire.” When he said Marxism-Leninism would end up “on the ash heap of history” and when he said his strategy in the Cold War was “very simple: we win, they lose,” Democrats and the intelligentsia derided him as an ignorant philistine. But when he stood before the Brandenburg Gate and demanded, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” his words changed history.

Cruz then goes on to tell a story about changing the name of a street in front of the Chinese embassy, and how much the Chinese did to stop that. The Chinese Communists fear being exposed that much. It is a small thing, but they fear it like a vanpire fears sunlight. The point is that we need to keep telling the truth, and keep also telling the Truth. We may not make a big difference, but if we keep couragiously telling the truth, we will in the end make a difference.  When we tell the truth, we expose those who would rather slither back under the rock we have just picked up.  They may strike, but we must continue to pick up the rocks.

Bad Things Can Happen Anytime, Anywhere

 John Crump at Ammoland has a piece entitled Alledged Human Trafficing in Affluent DC Subrrb Shows Need For Guns. What points out is that, as so often said, when you are attacked, the police are not there, and you must be your own first responder. Therefore it is important that everyone owns and carries a gun at all times, and gets training to use it.

On Monday at 2 P.M., a call to 911 reported a possible abduction in progress in Ashburn, VA. Ashburn is one of the most affluent towns in Loudoun County, the wealthiest county in the country. The town sits 30 minutes outside Washington D.C. It has an average household income of $159,220. The medium home price is $748,857, with single-family homes selling for over $1 million. It is the home of CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, doctors, lawyers, and politicians.

Crime rates in the town are incredibly low, and most feel the area is very safe, so it came as a shock that a man named Joseph C. Daniel, 44, of Leesburg, VA, allegedly kidnapped an adult woman in board daylight in front of a Wells Fargo bank and threw her in a stolen black Hummer SUV.

According to law enforcement authorities, the unnamed woman was kidnapped in a human trafficking scheme. Luckily for the woman, a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputy was only seconds away when the call was placed.

Daniel led the police on a chase across Northern Virginia involving multiple law enforcement agencies before finally being caught. Fortunately, the woman was safe with only minor injuries.

Although police were able to stop the kidnapping, it was luck that a deputy was only seconds away. This situation shows that no matter where you are or how safe you think you are, bad things can happen at any minute. We cannot count on dumb luck to keep us safe. We must be our own first responders.

Human trafficking is not just something that happens in movies or to runaways. This incident shows the need to be prepared. If a human trafficker can kidnap a woman in the middle of the day in a “safe” town, it can happen anywhere. This case also didn’t make national news. Ashburn is in the D.C. Metro area, and the chase ended minutes from D.C. If this case didn’t make national news, how many other human trafficking cases don’t crack the news cycle?

The best way for a woman or anyone else to protect themselves is to carry the great equalizer. That equalizer is a firearm. The average man can overpower the average woman. A firearm levels the playing field and gives a woman a fighting chance against an attacker.

Not only should everyone carry a firearm, but everyone should also get training to handle and use their gun. A firearm is many things to many different people, but first and foremost, a gun is a tool. It is a tool for self-defense. It is useless unless the gun owner knows how to use the firearm.

If you, gentle readers, have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know all the cliches. You know that when seconds count, the police are only minutes away, as was the case here. You know that a gun is just a tool, and you should hope to never need it. But if you do, there are few substitutes. Sure, an edged weapon like a knife or a club like a cane can be used in a pinch. But a gun is a stand-off weapon which is safer for you. The best gun for you is the one you have with you when you need it. Even if it's a .22 long rifle, if you shoot it well, carry it.

I am glad the woman was safe, and the perpetrator was caught. But one thing is clear, bad things can happen anywhere, anytime. Be prepared

Why Anitsemitism?

 Why do so many people hate the Jews?  What causes antisemitism?  I have wondered that for years.  The Jewish population of the United States is a mere 5.8 million people out of a total population of some 330 million or 1.75%.  On the other hand they have had an outsized influence on science, music, and the arts, so shouldn't we celebrate that? Instead, so many seem to be jealous.

Molly Slag yesterday at the American Thinker also asked the question in a post entitled The October 7 massacre in Israel raises important questions for America. Her answer, that it's because Islam demands it, is true enough as far as it goes. But it begs the question of why does Islam demand it. There are far more Arabs in the Middle East, and the average person there could easily go about his day without thinking even once of the Jews. Here is Slag:

Question #1: Why Do Muslims hate Jews?

This question has been simmering for a long time. We have probably all known the answer for years, but a recent flurry of internet postings on this very question makes it very clear that the reason Muslims hate Jews is because Islam mandates it, and all Muslims are taught it from infancy.

Hating and killing Jews is a religious obligation of Islam! That means this is a problem that has no solution.

Our American constitutional right to freedom of religion did not envision a religion of mandatory murder. Jews and Judaism are protected under American law. Can Islam be protected also? Can a Muslim claim First Amendment constitutional religious liberty as a defense in court to a charge of murdering a Jew? How do we deal with this?

I included the second part of her question because it is important to the United States in particluar, although not to the question of why antisemitism. Back when the United States still included sane people, we refused to admit Utah because the Mormon religion sanctioned polygamy. As a Christian nation, we did not. Therefore, we recognized then that there were certain things that fell outside the First Amendments religious freedom clause, no matter that some people might claimed them as their religious right. But put that aside for now.  We will take that up in another post.

The question remains, why does Islam in particular, but even more puzzling, why do so many people hate the Jews. The hatred is deep, passionate, and seemingly inexplicable. The other day, I saw a brief exchange between a "Palestinian journalist" and Radm John Kirby in which the "journalist" claimed 160 relatives had been killed by the Israelis. The "journalist" attempted to ask a question about the defeat by the Israelites of the Amalekites but was the rest of his question was lost. The defeat of the Amalekites takes place in the book of Exodus, chapter 17, placing it approximately 3500-4000 years ago. The Bible records other battles with the Amalekites, but the one thing to note about them is that they were the offspring of Esau, the brother of Isaac. And Issac was the father of Israel, not Esau.  Aha!

Stay with me here, there is a reason I bring all this up. In Genesis is a story relating to the building of a ziggurat at a place called Babel. In the story of the Tower of Babel, the Most High God, Yahweh, notices that the people have one language and that nothing they set out to do was beyond them. Thus, again we have the sin of Eden, where men at the urging of the serpent Lucifer, sought to set themselves in God's seat. Therefore, he scattered the people and confounded their language. Again, this is a theological story, not a literal one. In essence he washed his hands of mankind. He then apportioned the nations of the earth to the different members of his Heavenly Host to manage.  Meanwhile He took the land of Caanan for himself. Shortly thereafter he calls Abram out of Ur of the Chaldees and makes a covenant with him to father the people of Yahweh. Abram became Abraham, and fathered Esau and Isaac.

The reasons are better explained in the book The Unseen Realm by Michael Heiser, but if we understand that man is constantly tempted by Lucifer or Satan, or by a hundred other names, though the Father of Lies may be out best description, we come to the reason for hatred of the Jews. The Muslims hate the Jews because as they are the offspring of the one from whom the Promise was stolen, they naturally want to get even. (They could, of course, accept Christ as their savior, but have consciously chosen not to.)  More importantly, all men want to set themselves on the throne of Yahweh. It is the original sin. We are constantly tempted by the Father of Lies, which explains the natural animosity to God, and thus the Jews

The good news is that God has reconciled mankind to Himself through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. We have nothing to do with it, indeed we could not do it. God had to do it for us. Our "job" is to be grateful.
