Obama isn't paying attention to the ACORN scandal?

I just had to highlight this article in the American Thinker by Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs today. A quote:

This is madness. What this constitutes is a coup on the American electoral system, a usurpation of the will of the people: government by the people and for the people made into a sham. It's a government by the moochers and the looters, for the moochers and the looters, stolen from the good, hardworking Americans. And worse, the American people have sat by and let it happen. Obama's presidency is not an accident of history. It was a very deliberate assault by the hard left on the foundation of the greatest country in human history.


If we purged the illegals, the dead and the fraudulent from the voting rolls, this would be a different country, with honest leadership that reflected the real landscape of this great nation.


ACORN is a racketeering criminal organization whose specialty is sedition -- overthrowing the good governance of this great nation. Why hasn't it been stripped and rendered illegal like the Cosa Nostra? What's the difference, except that the mafia was patriotic?

Ashton Lundeby: Did the perpetrators comment online?

The Ashton Lundeby case continues to get curiouser and curiouser. Paul Valone has an article with the perpetrators apparently commenting on his previous article in the Charlotte Examiner.

As Paul says:

I can’t tell you with certainty whether Ashton Lundeby made bomb threats. I can say that if the comments left were by the other players, it sounds as though he was “lulzed” for refusing to make bomb threats, just as players in this group of online pranksters had “vanned” one of their own earlier.

Nor can I Say with certainty whether the DOJ is holding Ashton under an abuse of the Patriot Act. I can say that if they aren’t, they had better be far more forthcoming than they have been, and I can say that repeal of the Patriot Act should be the priority of liberals and conservatives alike.

As we focus the telescope, saga of Ashton Lundeby continues to get “curiouser and curiouser …”

No net loss for gun rights

The concept of "no net loss" should be implemented to keep from losing more of our Second Amendment rights.

An interesting concept for use as a political ploy, perhaps. However, the history of gun control has been compromise, after compromise, after compromise. We give up some of our rights, in return for promises of greater safety which never materialize. Then something else happens, and there are calls for yet more compromise. The citizen always loses in these compromises, and the gun grabbers and statists always gains.

Still, the idea has merit as a way to force repeal of some of the worst of the gun control laws.

Obama Bans Ammunition, not so called "Assault Weapons"

In an article yesterday, David Codrea warned about a new policy being implemented by the DoD to scrap once fired brass, rather than sell it for re-use to companies like Georgia Arms, who reload the ammunition for training. "Range Ammo" we call it, and range ammo is used in quite high amounts by law enforcement and by civilians seeking to improve their effectiveness with weapons, as well as for target practice.

Of course this is wrong on so many levels. First, by scrapping brass instead of selling it for re manufacture, the value of the brass is cut in half. Not a good use of taxpayer funds by an agency that has a fiduciary responsibility to spend our funds wisely. Second, at a time when jobs are short, it would seem that every job that the DoD can save in the U.S. would be one less person on the public dole. Georgia Arms will have to lay off half its workforce if this policy stands. Third, at a time when ammunition supplies are already tight, and local budgets are stretched, law enforcement agencies hardly need to pay more for the ammunition used than they have to.

Perhaps this is just some zany idea, hatched in the bowels of the Pentagon, by someone who didn't know what he or she was doing. You would be surprised how often such things happen. But given the "The One's" penchant for illegally disarming his "subjects" it sure feels like a backdoor approach to banning so called "assault weapons." After all, guns without ammunition are just clubs. Please write you Congressmen and Senators, and ask them to take action to end this policy now.

Update: Well, that was fast. I am embarrassed to be behind on this curve. Kurt Hoffman reports that the policy is rescinded. A win for the gun owning community. I would like to point out that I do not personally own a rifle that fires either .223 or .308 , yet I sent my Senator a letter yesterday, requesting he take action. Whether you are a hunter, a target shooter, an instructor, a collector or any other type of gun owner, we should all stand shoulder to shoulder when any segment of our community is attacked. An attack on one of us should be seen as an attack on all.

What's Up with Gas Prices

From mywaynews comes this report that the Lundberg survey indicates gasoline prices are down 53 cents in the last two weeks. Now, I am not complaining. Indeed, I am ecstatic. But one small question keeps rattling around in my brain: why? Who stands to benefit from the extreme run up in prices, and who is feeling the pinch now that prices have come down? Why isn't anyone apparently reporting on this? Am I the only one who is just a bit curious?
