A Rigged Game

At the War On Guns website, David Codrea points out that the permit system for handguns is a Rigged Game. Just as the Leftist gun grabbers look at every gun control law as a good first step (on their way to banning all guns,) we look at every relaxation of gun restrictions as a good first step toward restoration of our Second Amendment rights. He is right that it is a rigged game because as Mecklenburg Sheriff is proving, and as the Wake County Sheriff also earlier proved, if you are reliant on a permit from the government, you are not dealing with a right but a privilege.  A right can not be taken away, but a privilege exists at the whim of bureaucrats and politicians.

While I applaud GOA for joining with Grass Roots North Carolina to sue the Mecklenburg Sheriff, we really need to work towards Constitutional Carry.

The Left Doesn't Understand Rights

Kurt Schlichter has an excellent post today explaining exactly what a "right" is, and what it means.  In Liberals Hat That You Have Rights.

The bizarre contortions that the libs are going through to blame you for the virus because you selfishly refused to submit to their fussy commands illustrates, for the umpteenth time, an undeniable fact about these fascist-curious creeps. They hate hate hate the idea of rights, particularly yours. In fact, when they refer to rights, they often insist on encasing the word in quotation marks, as if it was some bizarre and alien concept those Jesus-gun-truck-cisnormative people from Iowabamaho invented under the influence of moonshine and the Holy Spirit.
Rights, they realize, are an intolerable obstacle to the things they want to do – especially when it’s inferiors like yourself asserting said rights. In this case, what they want to do is inject you, regardless of your choice, with a medicine that works intermittently but they want to inject you with it because it is not preventing the virus and therefore they need to prevent the virus and my head hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts. And they also want to wrap your face in a towel because that is the only thing that can protect them, despite the fact their faces are wrapped in towels already and that should protect them, and now my head really hurts.
Rights are behaviors that you as an individual can choose to exercise, or not. However, you can not demand that another exercise your rights on your behalf. Thus, you have a right to keep and bear arms, but you must exercise this right by purchasing arms and ammunition yourself, pay for training and practice with these arms. You can not expect the government to provide you with arms. Thus, while you may have a right to health care, the flaw in Obamacare is that the government is forced to subsidize your health care. Contrary to how it was advertised, Obamacare is not a right.

Rights also can not be taken away either by legislation, or by executive fiat. Whatever you may think of someones exercise of rights, these rights were secured a long time ago, by God, if you believe in God, or by Nature if that floats your boat, but no one has the right to now decide that certain rights are not to be exercised. Thus taking down certain websites or cancelling certain people on social media is not a thing. It may seem as if haaving to hear or read something you disagree with is a horrible imposition. But who said you have to read it or listen to it. You have the freedom to not listen to it, right? So exercise that right yourself, and don't put it on others to do it for you.

...The fact is that the left considers rights an intolerable obstacle to getting what it wants done. And of course, that is the whole point of rights. Rights limit what they can do. That’s why they only talk about exceptions to our rights.
Rights are unreasonable by design because you can’t “reason” them away – and, of course, it was God who designed them. We were endowed with them by our Creator. Libs hate hate hate that too - they want to be the ones who grant rights, because this leads to them being able to ungrant them at will.
I urge gentle readers to go and read the whole article. It is important to understand exactly what a right is, and Schlichter makes a good start on rights. But truly there are more rights that are not specifically mentioned. Just remember that when the Left starts talking about rights, hang on to your wallet. They really want to either limit your exercise of a right, or somehow make it incumbent on the taxpayers to pay for it.

Biden Means to Take Your Guns

Joe Biden, that so called moderate who campaigned on uniting all of us, wants to take your guns, and makes no bones about it, that's not malarkey.  At Louder With Crowder we find out that Biden even wants to take away 9mm handguns, but claims that this doesn't violate the Second Amendment! Crowder of course always makes it funny in a "but it's not funny" sort of way. But mark my words, Biden really means it.

Biden, and the cohort of Leftists, Communists, Marxists and Fascists (but I repeat myself) definitely view us as the enemy. Now, I don't think we should view them as enemies, but we do need to take them deadly seriously. You may not believe in either God or the devil, but I explain it as these people are in thrall to Satan, whether they know it or not, and we who love liberty must be on constant guard.

Understand that these people are often not in their right minds. They are consumed with desire for power over others, and they truly believe in their own superiority. This is not normal.  Normal people are involved with their families, their work, and let others worry about their own problems.  I would mock them for it, but in truth the desire is utterly pathetic, and it makes these people pathetic. Still make no mistake that despite the pathetic nature of their desires, they are incredibly dangerous.

Interestingly as well is that blacks and women are driving the uptick in gun sales and the fact that ammunition is as scarce as hen's teeth.  And let's be real here, while we are at it, that gays and lesbians are more at risk that straight people.  They need weapons for self defense as do law abiding blacks.  Kind of shows that Biden and his Leftist cohort don't really care about blacks or gays, right?

Please go read the article at Louder with Crowder and of course watch the embedded article. Interestingly, it may be up to the courts penultimately will have to stand up for our rights, but will they? It may ultimately be up to us.

We Need To Wake Up the RINOs

John Green provides a pretty good history of how we got here in his article at the American Thinker entitled Wake Up RINOs!, and then goes on to explicitly state just where we are.

Historically, Democrats and Republicans were merely opposition parties. They had a few shared objectives — prosperity, liberty, and national security. However, they had very different ideas about how to achieve those objectives. It was a political environment well suited to debate and compromise.
Then the election of 2000 happened, and something changed. George W. Bush won the presidential election by a mere 537 votes. Losing in such a narrow fashion was too much for the Democrats to cope with. In their rage, they went insane.
The Democrat party has always had radical elements. But up until 2001, the party had mostly kept them at bay. In that year, surrendering to their insanity, they welcomed the guidance of radical leftists — and the purges began. With primary challenges, the leftists began driving moderates from the Democrat party. They even forced Joe Liebermann out of the party — and he had been their vice presidential candidate in the election of 2000. A mere 20 years after that devastating election loss, the likes of Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar are now the soul of the party. The Democrats no longer share any meaningful common ground with Republicans.
What must be understood is that Republicans in particular, and conservatives in general, have in the minds of Democrats, become the enemy. Whether we like it or not, we must acknowledge that they are at war with us. It is much the same as with the gun grabbers, who will always look at any concession we give as just a good first step, we can not give even one inch. Former Senator from North Carolina, Jesse Helms said (and it has been a long time since I quoted the great Jesse Helms):
Compromise, hell! That's what has happened to us all down the line - and that's the very cause of our woes. If freedom is right, and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna, to be bartered a slice at a time.
Green again:
Republicans in general, and RINOs in particular, need to wake up and realize that the Steele dossier, Crossfire Hurricane, and two impeachments were not about Trump. None of this was done because The Donald sends mean tweets. These attacks were done because he had denied them their "rightful victory." He dashed their dream to become our unchallenged rulers. Does anyone believe that had Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, or Jeb Bush been elected, he would have been spared similar attacks? When Mitt Romney (their ideal Republican) ran in 2012, was he spared? The Democrats would not have extended a hand of cooperation to any Republican president. They would have extended the same clenched fist which they presented to Donald Trump.
...snip...
In short, they're willing to destroy the American dream to retain power. That will require tyranny — which they are quite comfortable with as long as they're the tyrants. If you doubt that statement, recall that Joe Biden's inaugural address was the first in U.S. history delivered solely to an armed military contingent. If given their way, leftists will turn America into Cuba of the North — with their ally the Democrat party.
If conservatives seek liberty, and our opposition seeks tyranny, it's foolish to think we can compromise — and immoral to try. Every Republican needs to realize that the time for compromise is past. Democrats allow Republican participation only when it supports their bipartisan narrative. Negotiating a bipartisan infrastructure bill doesn't serve the American people. It shows support for those who are trying to oppress our liberties. To think we can fight them on the oppression front but find common ground for infrastructure is wrong-headed. It's the modern-day equivalent of the "he makes the trains run on time" rationalization. Listen up, RINOs: if they are trying to destroy America, we don't care if a few bridges get fixed — get your priorities straight.
So, what can we do? I think the first thing we can do is to deny the insanity and lunacy around us every day by telling the truth. We can tell the truth that Critical Race Theory is actually racist, and shouldn't be taught to anyone, much less our children. We can tell the truth that masks don't protect anyone from any respiratory virus, and shouldn't be required for the general public. We can tell the truth that truth that China is our biggest foreign enemy followed of course by Russia. We can tell truths large and small, and we must if we are to take back this country from the Left.

Thing is, the more we tell the unflinching truth, the easier it gets.  the more you do it, the more you gain back your moral authority.  And to make it more delicious, it really irritates the Left.  The Left wants to demoralize you, quite literally, and your failure to cooperate really makes them mad.

Oh, and the other thing is to buck up our Republican representatives.  They are weak, and need our support to stay the course.

The Great Gift the Founders Left for Us

Today, there is more on the ACLU's efforts to claim that the Second Amendment was rooted in racism.  And, according to Harold Hutchison at Ammoland The Big Lie the ACLU Told Must Not Go Unanswered. Hutchison points out that the Founders wrote a lot about the Second Amendment, none of which mentions blacks or slaves. Slavery was simply not on their minds when discussing the Second Amendment, and these writings are easily verified. So, what is the ACLU trying to do?

Suffice it to say that the ACLU’s lie is easily refuted. But let’s think about what the ACLU was doing with this attack. They wanted to smear those who are defending the Second Amendment as defending the evils of slavery and racism. In essence, there was nothing about history in their post. It was about sticking a social stigma on those who defend the Second Amendment.
Meanwhile, over at the Daily Caller Larry Keane has a more biting takedown of the ACLU. He says that The ACLU Should End The Charade of Protecting American Civil Liberties. Ouch!
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) needs to change their name.  At this point, it’s false advertising.
The ACLU recently argued that, “anti-Blackness determined the inclusion of the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights, and has informed the unequal and racist application of gun laws.” That’s plainly arguing that the Second Amendment was included in the Bill of Rights as a tool of racist control of slaves. The posting by communications intern Ines Santos was an introduction to a podcast that included opinions from several professors who wholeheartedly agree the Second Amendment is racist and is a tool to deny civil rights to African-Americans.
It’s clear the ACLU is a shadow of its former self. It’s not the bastion to protect God-given liberties, but to drive special interest agendas. The ACLU’s disdain for the Second Amendment as a foundational and individual right isn’t new, but it is an attempt to flip it on its head. The ACLU‘s argument that the Second Amendment is a tool of oppressors doesn’t just ignore history. It is rewriting cold, hard facts.
Keane points out that the real racists roots are to be found in the various gun control laws enacted both before the Civil War and especially after it.
Maj Toure, founder of Black Guns Matter, told The Daily Caller in his usually blunt fashion that claims the Second Amendment is racist is an attempt to, “brainwash black people into believing that having the means to defend themselves is nefarious. I think gun control is racist, not the Second Amendment.”
The Second Amendment was designed to give all Americans, men, women, white, black, or purple, the means to defend themselves against those who would try to take away their rights, whether foreign or domestic. The War of 1812 proved the Founders correct in their assessment. These men were inspired, and we should not throw away the great gift they have left to us.

The Second Amendment Is Not Racist

I had a post last Wednesday entitled For The Left, Every Day Is Opposite Day, in which I pointed out that contrary to certain claims, the Second Amendment is not a racist document, nor was it written to keep blacks in slavery. Today, at the American Thinker, Tony L. Vets II has a longer article that puts the lie to the notion that the Second Amendment is racist at The Second Amendment: Not Racist, But Definitely Pro-Freedom. If you read nothing else today, read this. Vets brings up the points I did, and then some.

Much has been said about racism and the Second Amendment since Carol Anderson published her new book, The Second: Race and Guns in a Fatally Unequal America. Unfortunately, much of what has been said is false. Commentators including CNN, NPR, Democracy Now!, and the ACLU, just to name a few, have all interviewed Ms. Anderson and hyped her theory that the Second Amendment has its roots in racism, "anti-Blackness", and oppression. Few journalists seem to be approaching the "racist Second Amendment" narrative with a healthy dose of philosophic doubt, nor do they seem interested in questioning the accuracy and validity of Ms. Anderson's assertion, with the result being that the truth is being suppressed in favor of the narrative du jour.
...snip...
Much has already been said about the Second Amendment's roots being found in the English Bill of Rights of 1688, and so it is not necessary to recap that fact now. Instead, I refer the reader to Andrea Widburg's post, "The Second Amendment Isn't Racist," in American Thinker (June 4, 2021) and William E. Devlin's article "The Second Amendment's Irish Link" in The Irish Story (September 29, 2018). With an established legal tradition protecting the right of the people to keep and bear arms coming from England in 1688, it is difficult to argue that the roots of the Second Amendment are racist or meant to deal with potential slave revolts. The English simply were not in the least bit concerned about the potential for slave revolts and "anti-Blackness" in America when they drafted their Bill of Rights in 1688.
I did not know about the Irish connection, but it is interesting history. No doubt Ms. Anderson thinks the "Irish connection" was to the "black Irish." Look, anybody who wraps up his or her identity in things like race and sexual preferences are on the wrong path. Such things can only lead to unhappiness. And trying to lie about history, a history that is easily verified, betrays a person so imprisoned in her identity as a black woman instead of freeing herself to simply be a woman period.  but note that women are one of the fastest growing demographics buying guns.  Why?  For the same reason others have bought guns:  protection from those who would take their lives.

Naomi Wolf Warns About Big Tech

Naomi Wolf again, talking about the censorship of Big Tech.  In this case, Twitter shut her down for reporting factual information. Wolf, speaking to the Epoch Times points out that the same thing happened to her family in Nazi Germany.

Now, as I am a conservative,  and Wolf is a Leftists, she and I do not have a lot, politically, in common. But we do have our humanity, and while I may disagree with what she says, I will always defend her right to say it.

Wolf has also joined President Trump's lawsuit against Big Tech.  Go read, and watch the whole article.
