Americans Are Buying Guns While Democrats Defund Police. What Could Go Wrong?

Julio Rosas, senior editor at Townhall.com has a "Tipsheet" entitled The DNC Pushing Gun Control During The Country's Unrest Misses The Bullseye that suggests the Democrats embrace of gun control may be a mistake, just as Bill Clinton said it was. Rosas noted that:
Americans are not stupid. They have seen the riots, mobs, and rising crime rates and have responded accordingly.
July saw an estimated 1.7 million guns being sold, a 133 percent increase from July 2019. Around 2.3 million guns were sold during June, an increase of more than 145 percent from June 2019, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
Campaigning on restricting gun access while also wanting to defund sections or entire police departments during such an uncertain time in the nation may backfire on Democrats in November.
Of course, I am noting the polls that say all is lost, conservatives may as well surrender now and report to the nearest re-education camp. And of course, just because Americans are buying guns doesn't mean they are going to vote accordingly. But it is an interesting indicator, don't you think?
