Meat Lovers Be Not Ashamed

The scavenger class has been pushing the vegan lifestyle.  It is claimed to be more healthy, to feed more people, and to generally be more "principled" because you don't have to kill anything.  Of course, this from the same people who are shouting their abortion, so...  One has to wonder how they are making money off this, but you can be sure they are and it is at your and my expense.

A YouTube presentation entitled Eating Less Meat Won't Save the Planet. Here's Why debunks a number of myths about the beef industry, which includes sheep and goats because they are all a special type of animal known as ruminants. Ruminants have the ablity to take grass, straw, the hulls of grains, and other items that humans can not eat, and turn those into edible proteins. Thus, cows and sheep can take advantage of the 2/3 of land that is not suitable for growing crops. As for water usage, that is mostly rain, and most of what cows take in comes back out as urine. Oh, and watch what he has to say about cow burps.  But I don't want to give the whole presentation away. Go watch it for yourself.

Ruminants can also be useful in reclaiming lands that has been abused. Indeed, you can read about it at Ruminants for a sustainable earth. It's a somewhat long read, but it points out an interesting thing I have long thought, that animals change the environment as much as the environment changes animals. I have keept bees, and keeping bees seems to increase the amount of clover growing around the hive. In a similar manner, ruminants seem to increase the amount of grass land, and increase its health and fertility. And ruminants turn grass and other inedible vegetation into edible foods for us.

Finally, while plants do provide proteins, I am not aware of any plant source that provides necessary "complete" proteins. You have to be a pretty savvy individual to get the complete proteins that you need to flourish. Oh, and soy beans aren't acutally healthy for you. That is why it has to be processed so heavily into tofu. And as for what they call "beyond meat," if you want to eat that stuff, be my guest, but don't pretend it tastes like meat. After all, it is the fat in meat that makes it taste soooo good.
